Bio

Tiffany Satterly is a Tejana ceramicist based in Brooklyn, NY. Her narrative sculpture explores the intersection of identity, class, and socioeconomics using the visual language of Texas near the Gulf of Mexico such as cowboy boots, western wear, regional wildlife, and working-class entertainment. Her functional work recontextualizes personal experience within a contemporary framework, drawing inspiration from the textures, patterns, construction methods, and materiality encountered in the sculptural practice.

Satterly was born in Kerrville, TX and grew up in Houston. She received a BA at the University of Texas in Austin. She had a career in eye care before ceramics, and she now works in slipcasting production. Tiffany has attended residencies at Penland School of Craft, Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts, and Byrdcliffe Colony among others. She has participated in numerous workshops at historic centers for handcraft across the USA.
